Belfast City 1902

An early Edwardian scene in Donegal Street when horsepower still reigned supreme. The horse drawn trams gave way to electric cars in 1905. One year later the new City Hall was completed replacing the White Linen Hall. In 1888 Belfast gained its status as a City, this year also the opening of the magnificent Robinson & Cleaver store selling home spun products and famed for itsworld wide exportation of Irish linen.
